Sydney Sweeney, now a household name thanks to Euphoria and The White Lotus, wasn’t always viewed as a star.
Early in her career, she was told by a casting director that she didn’t have the “right look” for TV.
Sweeney began with small roles in shows like Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy, but it was her role as Cassie Howard in Euphoria that put her in the spotlight. Despite her success, getting cast in big projects wasn’t always easy.

In a candid interview with British GQ, Sweeney shared a painful memory. A casting director once told her she would “never be on a TV show” because of her looks.
Despite the harsh words, she didn’t let that stop her. “Now, I’m on some of the biggest TV shows in the world,” she proudly said.
It wasn’t the first time she faced criticism about her appearance. Sweeney recalled a moment from her childhood when a friend’s mother told her,
“No boy will ever love you if you have marks on your body.” Her response? “I guess I’m just gonna have to love myself.”
Sydney Sweeney’s success is proof that rejection and criticism are only fuel for perseverance. Today, she stars alongside A-list actors like Zendaya, and Euphoria is set for a third season.
