Did you know that Taylor Swift was almost a part of The Vampire Diaries? The beloved supernatural drama, which aired for eight seasons,
enchanted viewers with its love triangles and supernatural lore. Starring Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert alongside Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder as the Salvatore brothers, it remains one of the most iconic supernatural series.
But what many fans don’t know is that Taylor Swift was nearly cast as a vampire on the show! In an interview with E! News,
Nina Dobrev revealed this surprising bit of trivia. She shared, “At the very beginning, we heard that Taylor Swift was a fan of the show,
and the producers actually tried to write a role for her.” Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Swift wasn’t able to join the cast.
The role she was considered for? Stefan’s best friend, Lexi, a vampire who plays a pivotal role in Stefan’s backstory.
While the part ultimately went to Arielle Kebbel, the show’s creator, Kevin Williamson, had high hopes for Swift, even comparing her to a young Kirsten Dunst from Interview with the Vampire.
He admitted, “I was desperate to have her play a vampire… She would have been incredible.”
Although Swift didn’t make it into The Vampire Diaries, she’s had her share of acting gigs, including roles on CSI, New Girl, and films like Valentine’s Day, Cats, and The Giver.
It’s intriguing to think how different the series might have been with the pop star playing a vampire!
