“Speak No Evil” Nears Major International Box Office Milestone as James McAvoy’s Thriller Continues to Impress

James McAvoy’s latest thriller, Speak No Evil, is on the verge of reaching an important global box office achievement.

The film, a remake of the 2022 Danish horror hit, is steadily closing in on the $10 million mark internationally, just days after its worldwide release.

With a production budget of $15 million, Speak No Evil has already gained significant traction since hitting theaters.

The movie, starring McAvoy alongside Mackenzie Davis, Aisling Franciosi, and Scoot McNairy, earned glowing reviews from critics.

The thriller grossed an impressive $4.5 million on its opening day, pulling in $11.5 million by the end of its debut weekend in North America.

On the international front, the film is also performing solidly, having garnered $9.4 million overseas.

This brings its total global earnings to $20.8 million, placing Speak No Evil just $500,000 short of hitting the notable $10 million milestone internationally.

Only four days into its release, the movie has not only recouped its production costs but is also on track to double its initial investment.

However, despite a promising start, Speak No Evil faced tough competition from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which dominated the box office in its second weekend.

Tim Burton’s sequel amassed $51 million over the weekend, pushing its domestic total past $185 million and contributing to its worldwide earnings of $264 million.

Although Speak No Evil debuted in second place, it has earned widespread acclaim. The film currently holds a strong 85% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes and received a B+ CinemaScore from audiences on opening day.

This score is notably higher than the summer 2024 indie horror sensation, Longlegs, which earned a C+.
